
Raipur. A Sikh man was murdered in Khursipar area, Bhilai Durg over making remarks on “Gadar-2” movie scenes on 7:30pm 18 sep 2023. According to Police sources, Malkeet Singh aged 32 and his friend OM Kumar were watching “Gadar-2” movie in a open ground then a group of 5 peoples attacked him brutally. Malkeet was severely injured and was referred to Ram Krishna hospital, where he was declared dead due to severe injuries, while his friend OM Kumar is also injured and admitted to intensive care unit.
5 culprits Tarun Nishad, Tawassur, Faisal, Shubham Lahre and one unnamed attackers were arrested by Durg Police booked under sections 302 (murder), 294 (obscene acts), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt). Durg SP Shalabh Sinha “The motive behind this act of murder is unknown and uncertain. We are still doing our interrogation and will come to conclusion.”

Twin cities Bhilai & Durg observed half day bandh, protesting the sudden murder of Malkeet. Sikh Community at Bhilai are very angry over this incident and are demanding quick justice for Singh’s family, they also sought 50 lakh rupees compensation and government job for the victim’s family.
Victim family has claimed that Malkeet was murdered because he shouted “Pro Indian” slogans excitedly while watching “Gadar-2” movie.
