Cricket Asia cup 2023 : Bangladesh defeats India by 6 runs, Shubhman gill’s century goes in vain

New Delhi. Bangladesh defeated India by 6 runs in a tight super four Day Night match played at Colombo, Sri Lanka. India won the toss and elected to bat first, match resumed at 3:00 PM IST with good playing conditions.

Bangladesh scored 265/8 in first innings. 

Bangladesh posted 265 runs in 8 wickets, with batting performances from captain Shakib Ul Hassan 80 runs in 85 balls, Towidh Hriody’s 54 runs, Nassum ahemd 44 runs, Mehdi hassan 29 runs. Indian pacers Shardul thakur took 3 wickets in his 10 overs spell spending 65 runs while Mohammad Shami took 2 wickets. New comer Prasidh Krishna took 1 wicket along with Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel one wicket each.

India managed 252 runs all out, 6 runs short from the target.

In the second innings, India lost quick 2 wickets opener and captain Rohit Sharma scored duck, while his partner Shubhman Gill scored an memorable marathon innings of 122 runs in 133 balls. In 23rd over 94/4 Ishan kishan played slog reverse sweep, Mehidy Hasan caught him leg before the wickets. Suryakumar Yadav fell down scoring 26 Runs, 139 runs for 5 wickets.

Shubhman Gill took his stand, but India kept loosing wickets in quick successions and entire team got all out  with 6 runs short from the target 259 runs in 49.5 overs. Despsite of this loss, India has managed to qualify for the finals against Sri Lanka which will played tomorrow 17 Sept 2023 starts 3 PM IST at Colombo.

If India wins Asia cup 2023 they will regain Rank 1 spot at ICC ODI standings, keeping Australia and Pakistan behind.
